All funds raised during the AIRC Christmas campaign are allocated to research projects on pediatric cancers to ensure increasingly effective treatments for young cancer patients.

In Italy, it is estimated that approximately 1,400 children and young people under 14 years of age are affected by cancer each year, while among adolescents aged 15 to 19 years, the estimated cases are around 900.
Overall, pediatric cancers account for 1% of all neoplasms.
Today, thanks to the work of doctors and researchers, the five-year survival rate after diagnosis exceeds 80% for leukemias and is around 70% for solid tumors.

In 2022 alone, AIRC supports 78 research projects on pediatric cancers with a total investment of 8.5 million euros, with the goal of being able to cure all young patients, thanks to the development of increasingly precise, effective, and less toxic specific therapies.
